Kite JournalSunday July 7th, 2013And The Sun Comes Backbright hot wonderful sunshineAfter ten plus days of reoccurring storms and showers the weather dried up and the wind blew strong. Off to the kite field we went. The place was empty at first and only a handful of people used the park all afternoon so we basically had the place to ourselves. The sun so strong enough to require an umbrella for shade but otherwise things were ideal. I staked the RevB and then had it in the air in seconds. The wind was a smooth five miles per hour for nearly the entire time we were there. With wind we could depend on it seemed like a perfect time for Morgan to fly a dual line. The 4D is perfectly size for him with it's fifty foot line and light wind abilities. ![]() Here he is laying the kite in place so that he can self launch. ![]() Morgan launching the 4D. ![]() Morgan flew back and forth across the sky crashing every so often but with a smile on his face. He is well on his way becoming an accomplished pilot. ![]() ![]() I do like that hat. ![]() Lots of good wind time today with the Rev and then somewhere along the way the wind lulled for a minute. Then it started to build. And build. And build! The nearby weather station shows the wind climbing from four to over fifteen miles per hour in just a very short period of time. The trees rustled loudly and the Revs lines began to sing. It made me wish I had already ordered the Rev Pro as the vents would be great to have in this wind. ![]() Kelli had the Triad in the air for quite a while. The little box kite is fun and attactive and today it also became something of a target for the Rev as I tried to touch the Triad with my kite. They may have touched once but I couldn't tell for sure. It didnt take long and the wind corrected itself and settled down to around five miles per hour. Had a great session with the Rev and pretty much flew til it was time to leave. Back at home I tried a Red, White and Blue iFlite stack but my bridle system wasnt quite up to the task. I could get them to fly but they would quickly choose conflicting paths and calamity would ensue. I'll have to rethink my stack connection points. ![]() ![]() Another excellent day flying kites. |
